Who We Are
Active Recovery Companions was founded to provide the kind of private, steady, in-person support that makes the difference between leaving treatment and actually building a life.
"Our goal is to help foster and develop healthy interests, work on life skills and build a support network for each of our clients."Taylor Wilson, Founder
Every Engagement, Every Time
Privacy as a Foundation
Active Recovery holds the privacy of individuals and their families in the highest regard. We will not share your information or disclose our role to anyone.
It is up to the individual we are working with to decide how to explain our presence. Oftentimes, we are referred to as a friend or family member, but it's whatever they feel comfortable with.
Discretion isn't a feature we offer. It's built into everything we do.
Founder & Lead Companion
The Founder
I transitioned to Recovery Coaching in 2015 after three years of developing activities and team-building programs for rehabilitation centers in the Malibu and Los Angeles area. Clients, or their families, began approaching me to work privately and continue aiding in their recovery after they had completed their inpatient treatment.
Since then, my sober companion and mental health companion clientele has varied from high-profile individuals to young adults needing assistance with finding a job. The level of structure varies from a "live-in" situation, where I'm available to the client 24/7, to meeting with them four to five times a week to discuss goals and progress.
Typically, I work with an individual client for six weeks, but I do remain in contact with many of them to this day.
What Guides Us
We believe real change happens through genuine human connection, not rigid protocols. Our companions show up as real people, not clinicians.
Privacy isn't something we promise. It's something we practice in every interaction, every phone call, and every assignment we take on.
The goal is never long-term dependence. It's to help someone build the structure, skills, and confidence to sustain recovery on their own.
